Gong-Pu Elementary School was established in 1961. The school is located in the outskirts of Nankan, surrounded by mountains (Wujiutong Mountain) and river (Nankan Creek), and the surrounding natural environment is beautiful; it is adjacent to the third-level historic sites and local faith centers, and it has rich cultural resources.
In the past, most of the residents in the school district depended on agriculture for their livelihoods, which was very simple. However, as the times change, the rural landscape
in the school district has begun to incorporate industrial and commercial elements. Although it has transformed into a diverse and lively social landscape, it has become very difficult for children to experience the pure and beautiful rural life in the past. The school shoulders the mission of leading children to adapt to the modern technological society and inheriting history and culture.The local elders agreed with the school’s intention to preserve the past culture, so they enthusiastically donated a large number of local cultural relics. The school was grateful for the sponsorship of local enthusiasts and established a local cultural relics museum to properly preserve these historical relics. The visitors were amazed, as if returning In the 1940s in Taiwan’s rural areas. The school also designed a series of local courses for students to learn, so that children can experience the past step by step and cherish the present. The school’s local characteristic courses have also been recognized by the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Excellence Gold Award in the 2017 academic year.
In addition, the school has also developed traditional sports culture, music courses, steam courses, etc., so that students can have different performances in different fields of learning. At present, students have achieved good learning results and are highly recognized by parents in the region.
