Hengshan elementary school is located in a traditional Hakka settlement in Hengshan Township. It is a simple Hakka village primary school. The school is located in the Hengshan administrative center, which is near the urban area of Zhudong. There are Neiwan Line train Hengshan Station and free shuttle bus near the school. Hengshan elementary school does not have abundant resources and sufficient equipment. Half of the parents are farming or part-time workers, and about one-third are socially disadvantaged students. At present, there are one kindergarten class and six ordinary classes, one intensive special education class, and one special education for tutoring ordinary class.

The school has diverse aboriginal people, including the Atayal, Amis, Taroko and other mountain aboriginal people enrolled in the school. At present, the aboriginal Atayal teacher is specially employed to teach at school. The aboriginal certified program will be launched to lay the foundation for aboriginal language learning.
