Brief History of Cijin Junior High School
Kaohsiung municipal Cijin Junior High School is located in Zhongzhou district of Cijin Island. The school building faces Kaohsiung Port to the east and the Taiwan Strait to the west. It is just right behind the Cijin Windmill Park. It is the only middle school in Cijin area. There are 10 general classes, one resource class, and one special education class. Our school consists of 38 teachers. Two of them are substitute teachers. One foreign teacher from the USA joins our school team this year.
The eleventh principal of Cijin Junior High school is Hou-Yen Huang. He has been responsible for the overall operation of Cijin Junior High school since 2019.
He leads all the staff to consider school’s strengths and weaknesses carefully and establishes effective communication links between staff, parents, pupils and external bodies. Principal William Huang advocated “Golden Triangle” as his main educational vision in Cijin. Golden Triangle refers to three main parts, moral education, academic improvement, and characteristics development. Moral education is the foundation stone of learning and education. He believes that students with positive attitude and politeness can gradually feel the passion and interests for learning. When students are willing to learn, their confidence, progression and development in learning are cultivated in a good way. With the principal’s hard work and student-centered vision, Cijin Junior High School keeps making the steady progress.
Our school building has been rusted by the sea breeze over the years. It is not well ventilated. Old and mottled learning environment may affect students’ learning effectiveness. The city government has approved the school building renovation in June 2010. The building renovation program will try to combine the local tourism needs and history with school visions and fully develop marine education and international education curriculum. Let students here not only be familiar with their mother land but also have broad view in connecting with outside world. Cijin Junior High School will be the ocean star on the sandbank. Hope our students all can embrace the nature beauty of ocean and have courage to sail to the world.

Golden Triangle
1. Advocation of Moral Education
(1)Adopting “Misbehavior-Correction Sheet”:
Saying dirty words, dropping trash with abandon and being late for school are three main bad behaviors that students have. To improve these misbehaviors, Office of Student Affairs designed the Misbehavior-Correction Sheet to help students improve their bad habits. If students misbehave, they have to take the Misbehavior-Correction Sheet and find 10 teachers to sign. While asking for the signature, they have to tell the teachers that he or she has already known what misbehaviors he or she should correct. If the teachers can sense the regret from the students, they can sign for the students then students won’t get any practical warnings from the school.
(2)Using “Rewarding Cards” to encourage good deeds:
Every teacher can give rewarding cards to students with good behaviors.
For example, students who are willing to help their peers in learning or assist the
teachers may get the rewarding cards from the teachers. The collection of rewarding
cards will be used to the exchange of presents at the end of the semester.
2.Cultivating the Core Competencies of 12-Year Basic Education
(1) Doing Scientific Project:
School’s Scientific Research Club leads our students to discover the local ecosystem
and environmental issues. Through group activities and cooperative learning,
students are cultivated to be the positive students. They are willing to communicate
and cooperate with peers, learn how to make an innovative plan for solving local
environmental problems.
(2)International Education:The international education club introduces the
Holiday Card Exchange Project of iEARN platform to the students. With the projects,
students have to make their cards with the history and introductions of Taiwan’s
traditional festivals. Our school has connected with Belarus, Russia, Slovenia,
Georgia, Texas and Japan already. Students also learn the culture and the history of
other countries’ festivals.
(3)Building Reading Literacy:
Every Thursday morning is our school’s “Reading Day”. Students read the books they
like with the soft music and enjoy the reading morning together. Teachers and
students all like this tranquil moment of a week. Reading brings them calmness and
peace.
3. Strengthen Academic Improvement and Increase Competitiveness in Learning
(1)Flipped Classroom:
Encourage teachers to be innovative in teaching. Innovation teaching can arouse students’ learning interests.
(2)Academic Excellence Award :
Dean's List Award:
The breakfast with the principal is in honor of he first 15 students who perform well in every monthly exam.
Hero Award:
Students with great improvement in each Mock Test will be issued with
scholarship and coupons for exchanging fried chicken.

Rewarding cards are given to students with positive attitude and act of kindness
(4)Escalating Math Competence:
Students with lower levels would be separated into the small class math
lessons and provide students with satisfying and suitable teaching content.
