Pei Nan Junior High School, located in Taitung County, just south of Mount Nan Wang, is a picturesque school surrounded by natural beauty. Situated near the Pei Nan Cultural Park and facing the Taitung plain, the school provides a serene environment for students to acquire knowledge, develop technical skills, and build character.

The school was established in 1962 under the name Pei Nan Middle School. In 1968, with the implementation of the 9-year Compulsory Education system, it was renamed Taitung County Pei Nan Junior High School. During this time, the school formed a baseball team that participated in the first National Junior High School Baseball League and emerged as the champion. This success led to invitations from Taiwan Daily to participate in various tournaments across Taiwan, garnering recognition and inspiring other junior high schools to engage in baseball competitions.

In 1990, Pei Nan Junior High School won the championship in a national folk dance competition held in the southern region. As a result, the school had the honor of performing its dance on the plaza in front of the presidential palace on October 10th. This achievement was significant, as it was the first time a junior high school in Taitung received such an honor. In 1991, the school was invited to perform at the National Concert Hall for the International Choral Festival. Taiwan Television Enterprise also invited them to showcase aboriginal songs on TV. These accomplishments showcased the school's prowess in arts and humanities.

Pei Nan Junior High School has demonstrated excellence in various sports and extracurricular activities. The school's baseball team, powerlifting team, judo team, track and field team, and aboriginal dance team have all achieved commendable results. In fact, in 2021, Pei Nan Junior High School was selected as a school with outstanding performance in sports classes among 735 sports classes nationwide, a recognition that is quite rare.
Pei Nan Junior High School offers a "Fashion Aesthetic Design Class," providing students with diverse learning opportunities. This class allows students to explore the fields of fashion and aesthetics. The curriculum includes tribal fashion shows, Fujiwara weaving, elemental aesthetics, and technological aesthetic design. The school also collaborates with local designers to organize various aesthetic activities, enabling students to actively participate in design projects that are integrated with the curriculum. This aesthetic class provides students with enriching learning experiences, fostering their creativity and allowing them to express themselves through fashion and aesthetics.
In 2016, the school became a regional center for experiential learning in technical and vocational education. It has well-equipped classrooms aimed at providing professional and vocational experience. These facilities include a baby house for childcare-related career exploration courses, a hair salon for beauty, hairdressing, and nail painting courses, a coffee shop for coffee-making, and a cooking room for baking-related courses. Many elementary and junior high schools visit Pei Nan Junior High School to experience these technical and vocational courses.
The school is dedicated to supporting students from disadvantaged families, including those from single-parent households, those with inter-generational education backgrounds, and children of new immigrants. To assist families with functional impairments, the school offers special education classes and resource classes. These classes have two tutors to provide academic support and life skills training to students with special education needs. Additionally, the school collaborates with ANSF Kidsalive International Children House and Dray's Children House to provide care for students in need.
Pei Nan Junior High School also places importance on aesthetic education, particularly incorporating the characteristics of indigenous culture. The school offers aesthetic classes that include tribal fashion shows, Fujiwara weaving, elemental aesthetics, and technological aesthetics design. These courses often involve collaborations with local designers to engage students in practical design activities while integrating them with the curriculum.
The school provides a diverse range of curriculum options, from academic subjects to club and vocational classes. Teachers for these club and vocational classes are often invited from business sectors, bringing practical expertise and experiences beyond what is found in textbooks.
