National Hsinchu Senior High School (HCHS) was founded on April 1, 1922. The school is ranked among the best high schools in Taiwan. Based on the school motto "honesty, wisdom, the vigor and perseverance," the honorable tradition of HCHS has been established. The school has insisted on equal emphasis on five areas of education: moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic education. Besides academic courses, students receive equally strict training in the field of music, fine arts and industrial arts. Currently, there are 57 classes, including 3 science-gifted classes, 3 music-gifted classes and one gifted class for humanities program. HCHS also holds annual sports meets, swimming contests, and marathon races of 5,600 meters. Each and every student is required to participate in at least one event in the above-mentioned contests mentioned above. Such requirement cannot be found in other schools in Taiwan. The school believes that Whole Person Education philosophy can be put into effect.
HCHS has been viewed as a leading science education development center in Taiwan. The school spares no efforts to promote democracy, law and order and moral education. The school is proud to have distinguished alumni all over the world (including President of Yeng-Ze University Professor Tsong P. Perng, Taipei Mayor Mr. Wen-je Ko, Poet Chou-yu Cheng, 14 members of Academia Sinica and the Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee). In all professions and fields, they have been playing essential roles and making remarkable contribution.

Standardized Test Results: Class of 2018 Entrance Exams (GSAT, AST) Statistics
In the National Academic Examinations of 2019, organized by the College Entrance Examination Center (CEEC), 45% scored in the top 12% nationally.
Post High School Placement for Class of 2019
96.3% went to four-year colleges, 76.3% of which are national universities.
