學校基本資料

本校於民國四十六年十月二十三日正式奉准獨立名為「南投縣立水里初級中學 」，校長由分部主任陳定國先生升任。當時校內各項設備簡陋，校舍建在高低不平的荒郊上，經全體師生及地方人士胼手胝足、篳路藍縷，建校工程十分艱鉅，五十餘年來辛勤耕耘，才把昔日罕無人跡荒地之丘，發展為今日巍峨黌舍幽靜校園。民國八十八年逢九二一大地震，舊校舍全倒，由長榮集團張榮發慈善基金會認養重建校園，校園再現生機，九十年六月四日落成使用，校園脫胎換骨，呈現新穎、美麗、雄偉的風貌。民國九十二年增設社區大學水里分校，提供水里地區民眾多元的學習場所。

In the late 1950s SPHS was in the wilderness. The surrounding area was totally undeveloped. The school building itself was not very well equipped. It was also built on an uneven ground given its geographical location and limitation. After 50 years of hard work by all our affiliates and donors SJHS fortunately has a beautiful campus today.SJHSs original buildings were not able to overcome the devastating power of the 921 Earthquake which occurred in Jiji (only 10 km away). In 2001 SJHSs current building funded by the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation was put in service. The campus completely revived and overcame the traumatic experiences.In 2003 Nantou Community College Shuili Campus was established. It provides everyone in the Shuili area a go-to place for gaining new knowledge and learning new expertise. Athletically SJHSs varsity rowing team is considered one of the nations bests. The team conducts their practice sessions and shares the same coaching staff with the nearby vocational school of Commerce and Industry. The teams use Sun Moon Lake as their practice grounds. Varsity basketball team tennis team and track team are also very famous.
