Taipei City Municipal Nanmen Junior High School was established in September,1968. Nanmen Elementary school was established the next year under the same principle as the Junior High School. The whole school was named Taipei Municipal Nanmen Junior and Elementary School. A two-part school with independent executive teams was separated on August 1, 1989. The school was located on #6 Guangzhou Street from then. It was used to be Southern Town Elemnetary School in Japanese Occupied Period. The students of the school were Japanese at that time. Upon the restoration of Japan's government, the school became known as the Taiwan Police School. The campus is quite board and the area of the school is 3.2acres. From 1968 to 1980, the authority started demolishing the old buildings on campus and constructing several new ones. Zhongxiao, Renai, Xinyi, Heping, Dader, and Qinyun were the names of the new constructions in succession. There were one Student Activity center and 140 classrooms on campus then.
Nowadays, there are 45 regular classes, 3 music talented classes, 3 athlete classes, 2 centralized special classes, 1 decentralized special class, and 1 learning-aid class. In total, 55 classes are offered. We have 1399 students and 153 faculty and staff members on campus. Besides 62 regular classrooms, there are many audiovisual classrooms, laboratories, music classrooms, computer classrooms, ensemble classrooms, home economic classrooms, and scout, art, and guidance classrooms. Several executive offices, subject research offices, a conference room, and a library are included in the building. Among the campus' facilities are a sports field, a student activity center, a swimming pool, and a tennis court.
It is a quiet and unique school right next to the Taipei Botanical Garden. Several educational institutes are near this school, including Forestry Research Institute, National Historical Museum, Scientific Museum, Art Education Museum, Educational Data Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Concert Hall, National Opera House, National Library, and Central Meteorological Bureau. Aside from its delightful campus, sophisticated faculty, and well-equipped facilities, the school's luminous atmosphere makes it ideal for junior high school students to choose it as their school of choice.
In addition to emphasizing the importance of life morals, the school stresses the five disciplines equally, and emphasizes a spirit of diligent study. For the "CERTIFICATION of IMPRESSIVE NANMEN YOUNGSTERS" activity, we focus on multiple intelligence, as well as real-life instruction. Nanmen Junior High School was founded in 1968. The campus is close to the north side of the botanical garden. The location is surrounded by the National History Museum, Art Education Center, Education Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Music and Theatre Hall, National Library, Central Meteorological and other educational institutions. The campus is full of trees and grass, beautiful environment and pleasant scenery.
1.We assist students in assuming 12 characteristics that make them outstanding pupils: be good at sports, (especially swimming), be diligent, show respect to others, be industrious and thrifty, take good care of themselves, play a musical instrument, like sports, have courage to admit mistakes and mend ways, caring about their families, be bountiful and charitable, be computer savvy, speak a second language, dialect or English.
2.Based on the original school-based curriculum and designing new teaching models and courses, it's our wish that students will learn communication and coordination, self-discipline, independent thinking, problem solving, career exploration, and digital reading. Core competencies such as co-learning, creative thinking, cultural understanding and international vision are targeted and internalized with ethical democracy, scientific logic, information media and interpersonal citizenship such as aesthetics and International View.
3.The school also emphasizes musical cultivation. There are at least 8 small-scale concerts every year performed by talented musical classes providing music programs for all students to relish. It also instructs students on courtesy and respecting performers’ musical background and the knowledge of various instruments.
Diversity of school clubs: There are around 45 clubs offering a substantial curriculum for students to attend, including service clubs, music clubs, martial arts, dancing clus, sports clubs, literature clubs, etc.

5.“Taipei Nanmen Maker Education and Technology Center” is based on multiple intelligences: it's a combination of maker and technology-based curriculum modules. The purpose is to carry out technical education teacher training, curriculum development, student exploration and experience promotion.
6.Our art education started with a music class and has a long history. In recent years, it has produced string orchestras, wind bands, dramas, dances, etc. It has participated in Taipei City as well as national competitions. In order to share the achievements of our art education with the community's residents, our Art Festival has become a highlight of our school’s celebration activities.
