Jingmei Girls High School was founded on May 16, 1962, under the directive of Taiwan Provincial Government. Madame Deng Yu-hsiang served as the inaugural principal. The scenic campus was surrounded by mountains and rivers, and Madame Deng envisioned a school that “nurtures women of the new epoch with great prospects in a campus with beautiful views,” thus naming the school “Taiwan Provincial Jingmei (lit. beautiful scenery/prospect) Girls Senior High School.”

The development vision of Jingmei is to build “a school of joy, warmth, and innovation,” which emphasizes balanced development in all dimensions of education to nurture students with diverse wisdom and skills in order to become pioneering women of the new age, contributing to the society and serving others. The school curriculum focuses on both natural learning and cultural education. In 1994, Jingmei became the first senior high school in the nation of Taiwan to launch second foreign language classes, building for its students a sound foundation of foreign languages. More recently, building further on the foundation, Jingmei has promoted international education, and currently, it is engaged in various international exchange events in collaboration with many international sister schools, building a great reputation.

In recent years, the teachers and students have worked hard together, and the school’s performance has been widely recognized. The faculty members’ research capacity continues to improve, and has won First Place in Group Competition of the Taipei City Education Professional Innovation and Action Research in five consecutive years. As for the students, in terms of their academic performance, extracurricular activities, service learning, research publication, or arts and sports, they have attained brilliant achievements and been recognized by all sectors. As a result, Jingmei achieved the score of excellence in all aspects during the 2016 school accreditation, which takes place once every four years, and won School of the Year recognition, a truly deserving honor.

For 61 years, woven by its rich cultural fabrics and wonderful natural environment, Jingmei has nurtured “Jingmei Girls” who have greatly contributed to the development of the country, society, and industry. We look forward to new-generation students of Jingmei to sustain the glorious traditions and pass down wonderful values to the future of Jingmei.

Jingmei hopes to nurture the “Apollo’s Daughters,” who are “future talents possessing healthy personality and sound character, global vision, and the ability to think creatively.” Therefore, the core of curriculum design is to focus on character-building, international perspectives, and learning. Jingmei hopes to achieve the development goals of “local concerns and international vision” through multidimensional curricular development, nurturing students to become “joyous, warm, and innovative girls in yellow.”
