The founder of the school, Mr. Lin Zhongsheng, after the establishment of the Huey-Deng cram school in Yilan, is deeply aware of the seriousness of the current secondary education problem and the urgent need for reform. Mr. Lin is once again expanding the number of directors who are concerned about Taiwan’s education.
In 1984, 5.808 hectares of orchard farmland was purchased at the current site. In September, an application was formally submitted for the establishment of the school. In February of the following year, the establishment was approved by the Taiwan Provincial Department of Education. The first board of directors was formed and Mr. Lin was promoted as the first Chairman. The groundbreaking ceremony for the school building was held on July 28. In the early stage, a teaching building and a dormitory were constructed. In September, Mr. Hong Tengxiang was hired as the first principal.
On May 14, 1996, the Taiwan Provincial Department of Education approved the establishment of this school and officially named it "Private Huey-Deng National High School". Huey-Deng High School became the first private national high school in the country since the reform of education. In the first year, the eighth class of senior freshmen was enrolled. The opening ceremony of the school building was held on May 18. The first freshmen were officially registered on June 27, and the first freshmen officially started classes on August 31. In February of 1987, Mr. Huang as the principal, and a student dormitory building was added in September.
Huey-Deng High School is located in Yuanshan, surrounded by mountains, and can overlook Guishan Island in the Pacific Ocean from the school. The campus is vast and has a beautiful environment. It is carefully designed by the famous Japanese architect Mr. Liu Mingguo. It is majestic and magnificent. In order to cultivate a noble and sound personality, train independence, enhance learning effects and cultivate team spirit, students are encouraged to live on campus. The courtesy experience is rich, the most caring first-class teacher teaches, and special attention is paid to English, computer and various club activities in order to achieve the educational goal of balanced development.

It is our mission to foster exchanges of ideas through dynamic curriculum, outreach, service, and research in collaboration with partners across the world. Central to the Center’s mission is the advancement of cross-cultural understanding, academic excellence, and a global vision among our students and faculty. We are determined to build bridges between Huey Deng High School and institutions abroad so as to enhance the students’ educational horizons through international collaboration.
