本校位於5號國道通往宜蘭方向的雪山隧道旁,地處坪林鄉的行政中心,交通便捷,開發較早,早年高速公路尚未開通時,堪稱台北縣與宜蘭縣間的要口,故老街商圈曾興盛一時,然隨著雪隧的開通,榮景不再,坪林就業人口隨之外移,也因此坪林鄉學生數亦跟著降低,隨著在地產業發展加上少子化的趨勢,本區內坪雙公路上的闊瀨國小及漁光國小已分別於民國74年、95年併入本校成為分校,使本校成為坪林鄉唯一的小學,故學區遍及坪林全區,幅員遼闊,大部分山區學生都仰賴鄉公所提供之免費社區巴士接駁上放學。
坪林國小具有百年歷史,校地雖小卻擁有豐碩的教學資源。坪林國小在歷任校長的辛勤經營及全體老師和社區家長的共 同努力配合下,已奠定了良好的基礎,學校的校務及學生各方面的表現都獲得社區家長的肯定。無論是校園環境、組織氣氛、行政運作、教學推展、健康促進、特色社團、藝術人文、自然生態等均各具特色,均衡發展;社區家長熱心參與學校教育,與學校成為最佳教育合作夥伴,共同提昇教育的品質,學校已然成為學區內傳遞文化的最佳場所。
Our school, Pinglin Elementary School, is located next to the Xueshan Tunnel on National Highway No. 5, which leads to Yilan. It is situated in the administrative center of Pinglin Township, with convenient transportation and early development. In the past, before the highway was opened, Pinglin was considered the gateway between Taipei County and Yilan County, and the old street business district was once prosperous. However, with the opening of the tunnel, Pinglin's employment population moved out, and the number of students also decreased. With the development of the local real estate industry and the trend of declining birth rates, the Kuo-Lu Elementary School and the Yu-Kuang Elementary School merged into our school as branch campuses in 1985 and 2006 respectively, making our school the only elementary school in Pinglin Township. Therefore, our school's school district covers the entire Pinglin area, with a vast territory. Most of the mountainous area's students rely on the free community buses provided by the township office to commute to and from school.
Pinglin Elementary School has a century of history and, although the campus is small, it has abundant teaching resources. Under the diligent management of the former principals and the concerted efforts of all teachers and community parents, our school has established a solid foundation, and the school's affairs and students' performance have been recognized by the community parents. The campus environment, organizational atmosphere, administrative operations, teaching development, health promotion, special interest groups, art and humanities, and natural ecology all have their own characteristics and balanced development. The community parents enthusiastically participate in school education and work with the school to become the best education partners, jointly enhancing the quality of education. The school has become the best place to pass on culture in the school district.
Our teachers abide by their duties, teach with care, work diligently, and are eager to learn. They collaborate with the school and community parents, constantly stimulating new educational energy. In the future, we will strengthen our cooperation with overall education policies and the trend of educational reform, return to the essence of education, take students as the main body, and take "bringing every student up-healthy development, rich humanities literacy, life learning ability, lifelong learning vision, strong local sentiment, sustainable environmental awareness, respect for diversity, macro international vision" as educational goals, effectively integrate various resources, and combine the human and material resources of the community to develop the school's characteristics, allowing our children to have a more refined and excellent future, which is our sincere common wish and expectation.
