Our school is a junior high school dedicated not only to solidifying students' foundational academic abilities but also actively creating various learning environments for them. Sports competitions, traditional arts (martial arts), international education, bilingual education, and other flexible school-based curricula (such as Yanhang frog digging and Yanxing Elite Tales), along with a variety of club activities, are all immensely popular and beloved by our students. We actively collaborate with the community, local schools, and international partner schools, allowing our students to connect and engage in various static and dynamic exchanges, starting from Yanhang Junior High School and extending to the community, other local and international schools, and friends. We hope that through these exchange activities, students will ignite their passion for learning and pursue diverse development based on their interests and strengths, ultimately becoming outstanding students with the qualities of courage, environmental sustainability, a passion for technology, adaptability, and global citizenship.
As a newly established school in its second year, we hold true to our spirit of being rooted locally while connecting internationally and actively organize international education and exchange programs. We start with an understanding of our local community, initially interacting with local schools, then expanding to international schools and friends. In the 2021 academic year, we led our entire school in the 'Exploring Yanhang' activity, in cooperation with the Yongkang Yanhang Community Development Association, to help students better understand the characteristics and historical culture of the Yanhang community in Yongkang. Beyond introducing local features, we also collaborated with Tainan Municipal Zhongshan Junior High School on SDGs-related plastic reduction courses, allowing students to understand how they, as global citizens, can contribute to environmental sustainability. Apart from exchanges with Zhongshan Junior High School, we also held an English Summit with teachers and students from Wensian Junior High School in the North District. In the first video conference, students were led to introduce their schools and the characteristics of their surroundings. In the second video conference, teachers and students from both schools further discussed the contents and issues related to SDGs. For international exchanges, we led students in an eight-week 'Youth English Service Cloud Classroom' program with four American volunteers. The positive response from the students across eight sessions of interaction was encouraging, and we look forward to more opportunities for international exchanges. We also actively invite couchsurfers to interact with teachers and students, having hosted friends from the UK, USA, Brazil, Germany, and other countries, conducting a series of exchange activities to expand students' international perspectives. In addition to the aforementioned courses, in the 2021 academic year, we also integrated school-based curricula to co-design and implement the 'Ending Poverty, Yanhang Junior High Can Help!' course. This one to one-and-a-half-year international education course focused on SDG 1 'No Poverty', covering three aspects - knowledge poverty, material poverty, and spiritual poverty. Based on these aspects, teachers designed and conducted related activities in the classroom. From 'Know What' to 'Know How', at the end of the course, the entire school donated 60 pairs of second-hand shoes, sending love to Africa. In the 2022 academic year, we also conducted international digital learning partner exchanges with Edison Chinese School in the USA and engaged in a series of cultural exchange courses and activities with students and teachers from Minakuchi High School in Japan. In the 2023 academic year, we continue to engage in a series of cultural exchange courses and activities with teachers and students from Minakuchi High School and Gyeongju Middle School in South Korea.
Our school's vision is to cultivate WATER students - embodying World citizenship, Adaptability, Technology passion, Environmental sustainability, and Responsibility. We hope to have the opportunity to engage in international exchanges with Gyeongju Middle School in South Korea, allowing students from both schools to understand local cultures through international education and exchanges, and to respect, appreciate, and learn from different cultures, growing and prospering together.
