Established in 1955 in Banqiao, New Taipei City, NOCSH was the first high school for the descendants of the Nationalist Government of the Republic of China and aimed to revive Chinese traditional culture here in Taiwan.

In 1966, NOCSH became a comprehensive senior high school offering academic programs and vocational programs, including Social Studies, Science Studies, Applied Information Technology program, and Applied English program.
Since 1995, NOCSH has been doing international exchange with Japanese senior high schools. In addition to having online cultural exchanges, students of NOCSH and the overseas sister schools visit each other once a year to develop cultural understanding.

So far, the majority of our student component is the local Taiwanese students coming from nearby areas. As for the Overseas Chinese students, around a quarter of students are from Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia. There are also a small number of Overseas Chinese students from around the world, such as the U.S.A and Japan. NOCSH is often seen as a small United Nation for its cultural diversity and internationalization among all high schools in New Taipei City.

Besides, being a key school for physical education, NOCSH has sport talent classes for volleyball, taekwondo and football training. Therefore, we also emphasize student engagement and performance in physical education.

NOCSH has earned a beautiful nickname “City of Flower” for its natural scenic beauty. There are all kinds of blossoms in different seasons of the year.

1.School mission,vision and program features:
  The students of NOCSH are composed of local Taiwanese students and overseas Chinese students with various cultural background from around the world. There are also diverse learning programs provided to grow the potential and talents of students across a wide range of domains. To achieve the goals of international education, one of the visions of NOCSH is to develop students’ cultural understanding and their ability to communicate effectively in foreign languages.
  As for the image of an ideal student in NOCSH, we expect he/she to be a carer who appreciate others, doers who plan and persist, and thinkers who innovate and collaborate in cross-cultural settings. Based on this image, various courses are designed to solidify students’ global understanding and ensure that each individual is able to develop to their fullest. Students are encouraged to explore global issues and experience embracing diversity through hands-on tasks and projects in multiple courses. For examples, Applied English, Applied Japanese, and Networking in the Global World are for the first graders. Glocal NOCSH: from Global to Local, Applied Japanese, Applied French, Applied Indonesian, English for Tourists, and Japanese for Tourists are for the sophomores. Understanding the World through Movies, English Listening and Speaking, and English Presentation Skills are for the seniors.

2.Students’ Profile
  Our students’ English proficiency level ranges between CEFR A2 to CEFR B1. In the above-mentioned classes, students are motivated to share, interact and collaborate. That’s what we see as a start point for this sister school program.

3.International Exchange Experiences
  NOCSH has been keen on international exchanges. Since 1995, we have been steadily involved in annual reciprocal visit with Ueda Someyaoka High School in Japan. In recent years, we also started to have cultural exchange with Aichi Prefectural Minami Senior High School (Japan) and Longhua Girls' High School (Korea).
Even under the influence of COVID-19, we have online cultural exchanges at least once a year. Through the cultural exchange activities, NOCSH students learn to respect and appreciate different cultures and communicate properly in English.
