In the 113th academic year, the International Education Exchange Alliance for Primary and Secondary Schools upheld its mission to promote international educational cooperation, with the core objective of enhancing the global visibility of Taiwanese education. The Alliance planned a series of initiatives encompassing cultural exchanges, educational tours, professional development, and international collaborations. Through multilingual (Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean) Alliance brochures, it showcased a professional image and integrated the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its educational promotion efforts. These initiatives included facilitating online and in-person exchanges between domestic and international schools, signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various regions in Japan, and organizing training programs for international education personnel as well as cross-cultural activities, laying a solid foundation for deeper international cooperation.
The Alliance demonstrated exceptional coordination and promotion efficiency. Throughout the year, it successfully facilitated 25 international education exchange applications, including 5 in-person exchanges and 20 online exchanges, establishing itself as a model in advancing international education. Additionally, the Alliance signed MOUs with Shikoku, Chiba Prefecture, and Miyagi Prefecture in Japan, and assisted Shizuoka Prefecture in pairing 11 schools for online exchanges, further strengthening educational ties between Taiwan and Japan. Significant progress was also made in capacity building for international education personnel, with 1,369 educators participating in core task force training, host family workshops, and international education seminars. These efforts provided robust support for diversifying international education. To enhance the presentation and promotion of achievements, the Alliance compiled exchange outcomes from various offices into publications and shared them through the IETW website and multiple media platforms, broadening its influence and attracting more collaborative opportunities.
Looking forward, the Alliance aims to advance international educational cooperation with a longer-term perspective. While deepening existing plans, it seeks to explore innovative forms of exchange. An MOU with Shizuoka Prefecture is planned for the 114th academic year, further solidifying and expanding Taiwan-Japan collaborations. Simultaneously, the Alliance intends to continue organizing cross-border online learning forums centered on SDGs and advancing the cultivation of green-labeled talents, aligning with global sustainable development goals. It also plans to strengthen mechanisms for sharing outcomes by regularly hosting successful case-sharing activities, inspiring more schools to engage in international exchanges. These efforts will further highlight the unique value of Taiwanese education. Moving forward, the Alliance is committed to fostering progress, driving Taiwanese education towards greater internationalization, and injecting vitality and potential into global educational cooperation.
