Finding a perfect partner school is a key to conduct a successful international exchange program, and many schools are caught up with the current pandemic situation. In order to solve the problem and rebuild the connection between schools in Taiwan and foreign countries, the Ministry of Education established an online platform called International Exchange Window, in which match-up function will be performed to produce possible partner school list to both Taiwanese and foreign schools.
Since March 2022, the Education Division of the Taipei Mission in Korea has been conducting 5 virtual workshops for local teachers to introduce IEW and encourage Korean teachers to join the platform. So far, ten local teachers and teachers from Gangwon International Language Institute’s global exchange program participated in the workshop, respectively. They expressed great interest in using the platform to find a partner school in Taiwan.
Also, the East Asia Global Institute in Incheon also cooperated with the Education Division to conduct Taiwan-Incheon international exchange program. The Education Division provided guidelines for IEW and helped the local teachers to join the platform. The first workshop was held online and 25 schools signed up for the Taiwan-Incheon international exchange program. Later on April 26, a second workshop was held face-to-face for local teachers who are interested in international exchanges. The Education Division was invited as a guest speaker to introduce IEW. Sixty teachers participated in this workshop to learn the ways to use IEW and discuss difficulties in organizing international exchange programs. At the end, several teachers contacted the Education Division to provide resources and showed interested in conducting an exchange program with Taiwan.
